Training Developer

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop and edit training materials
• Develop computer based and Web deliverable training
• Interact with customers and functional organizations to develop specifications for course content
• Prepare training presentations and lesson plans from engineering documentation, field service requirements and vendor specification sheets
• Work with engineering, technical support and manufacturing to ensure that course material reflects current product features
• Research and translate technical information into training materials for end users
• Ensure training materials and technical manuals are developed in parallel with Technical Writing department
• Prepare training presentation material including editing as necessary, bulk printing and shipping to training location
• Serve as a technical training instructor when required

• Possessing specific knowledge and experience in configuring and troubleshooting digital baseband systems including packet data routers, switches, hubs and associated cabling for Civilian and Military uses
• Possessing specific knowledge and experience in operation and maintenance of commercial C-band, Ka-Band and Ku-band satellite communications (SATCOM) uplink and downlink hardware including: time division multiple access (TDMA) and frequency-division multiple access (FDMA) modems, up and down converters, traveling wave tube amplifier (TWTA), solid state power amplifier (SSPA) and klystron high power amplifiers (HPAs), low noise amplifiers, antennas and tracking systems, fiber optic interfacility links (IFLs), monitoring and control systems and waveguide principles
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical field
• 4-6 years of experience in satellite communications technology or closely related area
• 3 years experience as a technical writer or editor
• Requires experience in writing technical documentation to military standards
• Must be natively fluent in written and spoken English
• Must be able to edit English text for spelling, grammar and punctuation, formatting and correct reading grade level.
• Must also exhibit adept skills with MS Office Professional 203, MS PowerPoint, particularly MS Word 2003
• Three-plus years experience in SATCOM, packet data networking systems or closely related area
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification desired
• Knowledge of presentation media including computer-based training (CBT), photography, videography and Flash
• Two-plus years instructor experience desired
• Certification as a military instructor desired
• Knowledge of SQL Data Base desired
